Safe Sanctuary Protection Policy
Protecting children, youth, vulnerable adults and the volunteers who serve them.
As a congregation, we want to extend our gratitude for your willingness to begin the process of becoming certified to serve as an adult worker under our Safe Sanctuary Protection Policy. We've worked hard to make this a policy that takes into account the unique nature of volunteering in the church, as well as the need to protect both the workers and the participants.
Safe Sanctuary is designed to ensure protection for all children, youth, vulnerable adults and the volunteers working with them. Every volunteer who serves in these ministries completes an application, a background check and training on how to properly supervise and care for the people in their charge.
How to Become Certified
- Open and read the Application Instruction Letter.
- Complete and submit the "Child/Youth Protection Worker Application."
- Complete the "Authorization and Request for Criminal Records Check."
- Review the Protection Policy document and watch the 30-minute training video on this page. (A printed copy of the protection policy can be obtained in the LUMC office.)
- Following the video, print and complete the Protection Policy Training Assessment.
- Finally, print the Participation Covenant Statement and sign it.
