The Call to Christian Stewardship
|
We thank you for your generous acceptance of Christian stewardship and pray that you may find the level of giving that is right for you as you progress in your journey of faith and commitment. Your pledges and contributions—no matter how great or small—are a critical part of how we make a difference in our church, our community, and the world.

Determining Your Tithe
Your Tithe... Keep in mind that this refers to the amount that you are giving to LUMC’s “General Fund.” This is the fund that covers all aspects of program ministry, including outreach, fellowship, worship, discovery and service. It also is responsible for paying for ministry expenses such as staff salaries and benefits. All of these are important expenses and investments for intentional and fruitful ministry.
This Year… We are inviting everyone to prayerfully consider what is called a “Step-up” in giving, essentially meaning that you would commit to giving one percent more than where you currently are. For instance, if you’re currently giving at 4% of your income, you would consider increasing your pledge to 5% of your income. Ultimately, our hope is that you will eventually work your way up to 10%.
Using this Chart... Locate your nearest approximate income on the chart above. Then, using the amounts in the percentage (%) columns, determine your current giving level. Now, you are encouraged to consider increasing your giving by one percentage (1%) level. For instance, if your annual household income is $45,000, and you’re currently giving $35/week, that would put you at the 4% level. Consider stepping-up your giving pledge to 5%, which would equal $43/week.
