"Shout triumphantly to the Lord, all the earth! ... Thank Him! Bless His name." Psalm 100 (CEB)

Worship is an experience in which we offer ourselves, our praise, and our thanksgiving to God. Worship can take many forms, keeping God at the center of the experience through elements such as word, sacrament, reflection, prayer, song, and thanksgiving.

What to expect
Here at Laingsburg United Methodist Church, what you’ll find is a relaxed and comfortable worship atmosphere. We hope that, like others here, you’ll come exactly as you are.
Passionate Worship
Our goal here at Laingsburg UMC is to engage in meaningful and passionate worship in which we can fully come to God just as we are and share that time together with one another. We also believe that worship isn’t just something we attend and observe. Rather, worship is something we do. We each come to God just as we are to share with God our love, our hearts, our prayers, our joys, our pains, and our passions. We sing hymns and songs to celebrate and remember who God is and will always be in our lives and in our world. Together we explore the Scriptures and hear what God would have for us to hear. Ultimately, we passionately worship a God who loves us and who is always with us. Come and share in this time with us. We would love to have you.
Holy Communion
On the first Sunday of every month (and at occasional worship services), we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion. Sometimes this celebration is called the “Eucharist” or the “Lord’s Supper.” We celebrate Holy Communion because it reminds us of the final meal Jesus shared with his disciples in the upper room, just before he was crucified and died. During this meal, Jesus promised his disciples that the bread (which represents Jesus’ body) and the juice (which represents Jesus’ blood) would be broken and poured out for everyone because of Jesus’ love for all of us.
In the United Methodist Church, in order to make sure everyone can take part, we use grape juice instead of the traditional wine. Furthermore, we believe that everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and desires to experience his love and grace is welcome to take communion. You don’t have to be a member of this church or any church.
Children in Worship
Here at Laingsburg UMC, we believe that the church is a place where everyone belongs, whether they’re infants, children, youth, parents, or adults of all ages. That being said, please know that your children (all ages) are welcome to stay with you in the sanctuary during the worship service. For your convenience and their enjoyment, we have a established a "prayground" in the sanctuary with toys and activities available to you.
We also like to say that God gave children the wiggles, voices, and great energy. Allowing them to be children is perfectly fine. However, as we seek to teach them about the worship service, we encourage you to help them pray, listen, sing, watch, and do all of the things you’re doing during the service. To help you do this, we provide a small pamphlet called “Your Family, Your Church” that will help guide you through the worship service, answer questions you may have, and guide you through our church building. This pamphlet will be located in the back of the sanctuary’s pews.
Family Space
You will likely notice that we don’t have a traditional nursery with an attendant where you can leave your child during the worship service. This is because we want to strongly encourage you to have your children join you for worship. And so, instead of a nursery, we have the Family Space. This is an unattended room designed with families and parents in mind. If, during the service, you find it helpful to be able to spend time in the Family Space, for whatever reason, you are more than welcome to do so. You will find it located just outside of the sanctuary. In there, you will find comfortable seating, a changing table with complimentary diapers and wipes, age appropriate toys, as well as a child-friendly restroom. We simply ask that the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the children remain in the Family Space while it is being used. Please know that you and your family are always more than welcome to return to the sanctuary during the worship service.
Other Worship Services
In addition to our regular Sunday worship services, we have multiple worship services throughout the year. Click on the services below to learn more about each one.
